David George Wins Appeal in Refinery
Explosion Case

David George won an appeal on behalf of workers injured and killed in a refinery explosion. The Fourteenth Court of Appeals agreed with David that the jury’s verdict of over $100 million in damages was supported by the evidence. David George Wins Appeal For Mexican State of Veracruz

David George won an appeal on behalf of the Mexican State of Veracruz. In the lawsuit, Veracruz alleged that the defendants assisted its former governor in stealing millions of dollars in government money and laundering the stolen money through shell companies. The defendants sought to dismiss the case under the Texas Citizens Participation Act, Texas’ anti-SLAPP statute. In a precedent-setting opinion, the Fourteenth Court of Appeals in Houston held that the statute does not apply to conspiracies to steal public funds. The Court of Appeals held that Veracruz’s lawsuit can continue. The case is Jose Bandin, et al. v. David George Wins Appeal In Legal-Malpractice Lawsuit

David George won an appeal in a legal-malpractice lawsuit. A dredging company sued its former attorneys, contending that the attorneys’ errors resulted in it owing millions of dollars that it should not have to pay. The defendants sought to dismiss the case under the Texas Citizens Participation Act, Texas’ anti-SLAPP statute. The San Antonio Court of Appeals ruled that the plaintiffs had provided sufficient evidence supporting each element of its claims. The Court of Appeals held that the lawsuit can continue.
